My name is Vallgårdens Dazzling Daisy, but on a daily basis am simply called Daisy.
My owners decided they wanted a White Swiss Shepherd and even before I was born they visited my parents to determine whether I was the breed they wished to have. They immediately fell in love.

My parents visited me when I was 3 weeks old and decided that I was the puppy they wanted. The breeder, Eva-Liz was not sure which bitch she wanted to part with so would not say for sure that I would be theirs. I was wearing a gold collar which could only mean I was meant to be called Daisy!! When my siblings and I were 6 weeks old my parents came to visit again and it was decided that I would in fact be theirs and I would be called Daisy!
The day I was picked up my mom brought her neighbor from across the street and she decided to take one of my brothers home with her. So we got to ride home together. I was unfortunately very car sick and it took 4 hours to get home. I was so happy when we finally got out of the car!
The first night my mom slept with me on the kitchen floor, it was so nice not to be alone. Dino, my brother, came to visit every morning and we went on long walks together. When his parents went back to work he would spend the days with us. It was so fun because I had someone to play with, and play we did!
After Christmas, once we were both potty trained, he would stay at his house during the day but be still went on long walks together and played in the back yard.
On New Years Eve we went for a walk so I could pee before we went over to celebrate whatever it is we were supposed to celebrate. Anyway, just as I got to the lawn I heard a sound and my mom said, “Look, look, get the bird” and a light bulb went on and I realized “I LOVE CHASING BIRDS”. Unfortunately this one was not so easy to catch, it flew way too high up and then was joined by many other birds….oh well better luck next time, I need to focus on my goal….to pee.
Dino and I played all night and when the clock stuck twelve we were fast asleep and didn’t hear any of the fireworks going off.
I was scared once by something that definitely had an effect on me. My parents have house down by the southern shore of Sweden and the first time we went down to the shore I didn’t think twice about getting close to the water. Once I got close I sniffed the waters edge and all of a sudden something really cold hit me from behind, I jumped up and yelped while me mom looked on and smiled. It was a wave that had hit me. It took several years before I went close to the water again!
Riding in the car has also been a challenge for me. As soon as I got in the car I would throw up. I don’t really know why, because I actually enjoyed riding in the car and would jump in willingly every time. So for the first two years I had to take some special pills, which was not so fun either since they would make me so sleepy. It has gotten better over the years, but once in a while I still throw up but we just change the sheet in the car and keep going.
In the spring we attended a puppy class, but I didn’t think it was so fun. There were 12 dogs in the class and we each had to take turns doing things. So the rest of us just had to sit and wait, and wait, and wait. What I got out of that class was how to sit nicely and entertain myself by just looking. For example, I could look up at all the airplanes flying up in the sky….
Just before my first birthday I went to my first unofficial dog show. It was fun to sit and watch all the other dogs, but I couldn’t really understand why we didn’t all just play instead of running around in circles. The judge was late getting there and I was the first one up. So he ran in towards me and was about to touch me …..and I got so scared and did one of my phenomenal sideways jumps (I don’t mean to brag but I am extremely quick at reacting). I got away and ran out of the arena. SAFE!!! Oh well, the judge realized he had acted poorly and let us have a second try.
Showing has not really impressed my mom or I, but I have managed to get an “excellent” at an international show, which we are both extremely proud of. And we are going to leave it at that.
We have also taken classes in obedience, tracking and agility.
Tracking is a lot of fun, but I don’t care much for agility. To crawl on my elbows through a tunnel made for shelties, balancing on a board instead of simply jumping over it ??? I don’t get it. Jumping over obstacles, however, is extremely fun! Unfortunately my mom is not fast enough to keep up and so I never knew which jump to go to next, so that was the end of that.
During my life I have had first one and then two human babies to take care of. I love kids and my mom trusts me 100% with them because I am so gentle! I am however a little weary of grown-ups since they sometimes behave so odd. If you let me sit back and check you out first I will gladly give you a big kiss when you bend down to say hello.
So now I am apparently going to have my own babies. We are currently taking tests to make sure my eggs are ready and then we will go down to Germany to meet a handsome guy (according to my mom). We leave in a couple days and then we will see what happens.
